Burly Shaker 30
30-inch single bowl apron-front · Premium fine fireclay
A 30-inch single-bowl apron-front sink fired at 1,250°C for vitreous strength. The Shaker 30 is the workhorse of any heritage kitchen, deep enough to bathe a stockpot, gentle enough for porcelain.
The Shaker 30 is the sink we recommend first to anyone renovating a standard American kitchen. At 30 inches wide it fits the most common cabinet run in North American housing stock, and its 10-inch bowl depth swallows a 12-quart stockpot, a full sheet pan, or a stack of dinner plates without splashing the counter. The single-bowl format gives you the entire basin for whatever the day brings, from bathing a baby to soaking a roasting tray overnight.
Like every Burly sink, the Shaker 30 is slip-cast as a single piece of fine fireclay in plaster moulds at our plant in Bareja, Gujarat, dried under controlled humidity for days, hand-sprayed with glaze, and fired past 1,250°C for over 20 hours. The result is a vitreous body with the glaze chemically bonded into the ceramic, not layered on top. That is why a fireclay apron front still looks honest after 30 years while coated sinks show their age within ten.
The hand-finished apron carries a soft chamfer that reads traditional next to Shaker cabinetry and quietly modern next to flat-slab doors. It is offered in Matte Bone, Gloss Alabaster, and Fired Charcoal, each glaze mixed and sprayed by hand, so no two sinks are clinically identical, and none ever look mass-produced.

Installation & cabinet fit
The Shaker 30 installs as a classic apron-front: the base cabinet's front rail is cut down to expose the apron, and the sink rests on a timber support frame fixed to the cabinet side walls. Empty, the sink weighs 47 kg; full of water and cookware it can pass 90 kg, so the support cleats, never the countertop or silicone, must carry the load. Dry-fit before sealing: fireclay is a kiln-fired material and ±2% dimensional variance is normal under the B45 standard, so your stone fabricator should always template from the delivered sink, not the spec sheet.
The rim can be set for a flush, positive, or negative reveal against the countertop. Standard 3.5-inch drain assemblies and waste disposers fit the center-rear drain; if you hang a disposal unit, support it with an independent strap rather than the ceramic flange.
Cabinet fit: Minimum base cabinet: 33 inches. The sink is 30" L × 18" W × 10" deep and requires roughly 1.5 inches of clearance either side for the support frame.
Care & maintenance
Daily care is a warm-water rinse and a soft cloth. Once a week, clean with a non-abrasive cream cleaner such as Bar Keepers Friend or any pH-neutral ceramic cleaner, then dry with a tea towel to prevent hard-water marks. Avoid steel wool and neat bleach; the vitreous glaze is acid- and stain-resistant, and it is heat-safe to 530°C, so a hot pan straight from the stove will not mark it.
Shaker 30 FAQs
What cabinet size do I need for the Shaker 30?
A 33-inch base cabinet. The apron-front installation removes the cabinet's front rail and adds side support cleats, so allow roughly 1.5 inches of working clearance on each side of the 30-inch sink.
Can the Shaker 30 be used with a garbage disposal?
Yes. The center-rear drain accepts all standard 3.5-inch disposer flanges. Support the disposal unit with an independent strap so its weight never hangs on the ceramic.
Is a 10-inch bowl too deep?
Ten inches is the depth professional kitchens choose: deep enough to wash a stockpot without splashing, not so deep that you stoop. If you are under 5'4", consider raising the cabinet plinth by an inch.
Will hot pans damage the glaze?
No. Fireclay is fired past 1,250°C and the finished sink is heat-resistant to 530°C, far beyond anything a domestic stove produces. You can rest a pan straight from the burner in the bowl.
Warranty
The Shaker 30 carries Burly's 10-year limited residential warranty against manufacturing defects in the fireclay body and glaze, supported by cUPC (B45) certification and ISO 9001 quality systems.
