Burly Vessel Bath Oval
Hand-finished fireclay vessel basin · Premium fine fireclay
A hand-finished oval vessel basin in fireclay. Sits atop the counter as both fixture and sculpture, finished in our editorial palette.
The Vessel Bath Oval is where our fireclay leaves the kitchen and becomes sculpture. A hand-finished oval basin that sits atop the vanity counter, it is trimmed by eye and hand at the rim, the reason no two carry precisely the same line, and glazed in our editorial palette, including Midnight Cobalt and Clay Terracotta for bathrooms designed around a single saturated object.
Fireclay is an uncommon and superior choice for a vessel basin. Compared to the usual vitreous china, the fireclay body is denser and the glaze harder; compared to stone vessels, it is non-porous and needs no sealing; compared to glass, it forgives the dropped bottle of toner. At 14 kg it has satisfying mass without straining a floating vanity.
The 5.5-inch-deep bowl is calibrated for real use, deep enough not to splash while washing your face, shallow enough to keep the rim at a comfortable height on a standard 32–34 inch counter. A matching fireclay pedestal is available for freestanding installations.

Installation & cabinet fit
Vessel installation is the simplest in ceramics: the basin sits on the counter over a drain hole, bonded with a ring of clear silicone. Pair it with a universal pop-up or click-clack drain in the finish of your tapware; the center drain accepts all standard 1.25-inch bathroom wastes. There is no overflow, choose a drain that cannot fully seal, or fit the click-clack loosely, in family bathrooms.
Mount the tap high enough: a vessel raises the rim roughly 5.5 inches above the counter, so specify a tall vessel mixer or a wall-mounted spout that clears the rim by 4–6 inches.
Cabinet fit: Sits on any vanity counter of 20 inches depth or more. The basin is 22" L × 15" W × 5.5" deep; countertop height of 32–34" puts the rim at a comfortable level.
Care & maintenance
Bathroom chemistry, toothpaste, cosmetics, hard water, wipes off the non-porous glaze with a damp cloth. Weekly, use any pH-neutral bathroom cleaner; avoid abrasive powders on the hand-trimmed rim. Limescale rings in hard-water areas lift with diluted vinegar. The glaze will not fade under UV, a consideration for basins beneath bathroom windows.
Vessel Bath Oval FAQs
Does the Vessel Bath Oval have an overflow?
No, like most vessel basins it omits the overflow for a clean interior. Fit a click-clack drain left loosely seated, or an open-grid drain, if unattended taps are a concern.
What tap should I pair with it?
A tall vessel mixer or wall-mounted spout that clears the rim by 4–6 inches. Standard short basin taps will not reach over the bowl.
Why choose fireclay over vitreous china for a basin?
Density and glaze hardness. Fireclay is fired hotter, past 1,250°C, producing a tougher body and a glaze that resists cosmetics, perfume alcohols, and impact better than standard china.
Is each basin really unique?
Within tolerance, yes. The rim is trimmed by hand before firing, so each basin carries a subtly individual line, deliberate craft, held within ±2% dimensional standards.
Warranty
10-year limited residential warranty on the fireclay body and glaze; hand-trimmed rim variance is a documented characteristic, not a defect.
