OEM fireclay sink manufacturing: private label with Burly
Manufacturing · 8 min read · 2026-07-18
Most fireclay sinks sold under North American and European brand names are made by manufacturers those brands trust, private-label production is how this industry has always worked. Burly runs OEM and ODM programs for kitchen brands, importers, builders' merchants, and e-commerce retailers from our plant in Bareja, Gujarat, and this page explains, plainly, how a program works from first email to first container.
Why brands manufacture with Burly
Three reasons come up in every partnership. First, vertical control: we slip-cast, glaze, and fire everything in-house, no outsourced bodies, no bought-in blanks, so quality accountability sits in one building. Second, genuine fireclay: every sink is fired past 1,250°C for over 20 hours to full vitrification, the same body and glaze chemistry as our own Burly line. Third, western-market fluency: our founding team spans American design and Indian production, so drawings, tolerances, packaging, and compliance paperwork arrive the way your market expects them.
Two ways in: open moulds or your own design
The fastest route is private-labelling our existing catalog: ten proven designs from an 18-inch prep bowl to a 36-inch apron front, in six glazes, shipped under your brand with your packaging. The deeper route is a custom program: you bring a drawing, a 3D file, or a competitor reference, and our engineers develop the mould, compensating for the roughly 10% shrinkage fireclay undergoes in drying and firing, an art that decides whether a 33-inch sink actually measures 33 inches. Custom programs include pre-production samples fired in your chosen glazes for physical approval before any volume runs.
Inside the process: how your sink gets made
Every OEM sink follows the same seven-day cycle as our own: slip preparation from kaolin, ball clay, and chamotte; casting in plaster moulds; a controlled multi-day drying that prevents the internal stresses cheap producers fire in; hand-finishing of rims and aprons; hand-sprayed glazing; and a 20-hour-plus firing past 1,250°C. Post-kiln, each sink passes dimensional checks against the B45 tolerance standard, glaze inspection under raking light, and water testing. Our full manufacturing story is documented on the manufacturing page, and factory audits are welcome, in person or by video.
Branding, packaging, and the details buyers see
Private label means more than a sticker. Programs include your logo fired into or badged onto the sink where design allows, retail-ready packaging engineered for ceramic freight (drop-tested, corner-protected, palletised), your care and installation literature in the box, and barcode/SKU systems matched to your warehouse. For e-commerce brands we pack for last-mile courier survival, the difference between a 2% and an 8% breakage claim rate is packaging engineering, and we treat it as part of the product.
Compliance and certification
North American programs ship with cUPC certification under IAPMO's B45 standard covering dimensional tolerance, glaze integrity, and structural performance; our factory operates under ISO 9001 quality management. EU-bound programs receive the compliance documentation the destination market requires. Where certification schemes permit, listings can be issued under your brand name, ask us early, as listing timelines run parallel to production.
Commercial terms, plainly
Programs are container-based: one 20-foot container, roughly 150 to 250 sinks depending on the model mix, is the working minimum for open-mould programs. Custom moulds carry a one-time engineering investment, quoted per design and amortised across early orders. Lead times run 60 to 90 days for open moulds and 120 to 150 days for custom programs including sampling. We ship FOB Mundra or CIF your port, and we hold glaze-batch consistency at program level, so container three matches container one.

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order quantity for OEM fireclay sinks?
Container-based: typically one 20-foot container, roughly 150 to 250 sinks depending on models, for existing moulds. Custom-mould programs are quoted per project, with the mould investment amortised across the first orders.
Can Burly manufacture our own sink design?
Yes. We take programs from a technical drawing or even a reference sample: our team engineers the mould, accounts for fireclay's firing shrinkage, and delivers pre-production samples for approval before volume begins.
Are OEM sinks certified for the US and EU markets?
Sinks are manufactured under ISO 9001 and certified to cUPC (IAPMO B45) for North America; EU-compliance documentation is provided per program. Certification can be issued under your brand where schemes allow.
How long does an OEM program take from enquiry to first container?
With existing moulds, 60 to 90 days to first shipment. Custom-mould programs typically run 120 to 150 days including mould engineering, sampling, and approval.
